There is so much literature out there on color schemes today, so many suggestive stories in the bridal magazines and WAY too much inspiration. Rather than looking at suggestions I’ve found in mags and on websites, I’m looking at the two of us for inspiration and I’ve pretty much decided upon my color scheme. Er, our color scheme.
That said, my earliest bridal memory is a conversation I had with my mom at age three. We were talking about bridesmaids dresses (yes I am serious), and I told her I wanted them to be “hot pink.” My mother was delighted at the girly-ness of her only daughter, but slightly daunted by the idea of a “hot pink” wedding. She smiled and said, “I think you might change your mind by then.”

Blake Lively makes the bright pink dress angle look so hot… but do bridesmaid dresses even come this cute??
Well, Mom, you were right. And wrong. I swore to myself at the time that I would not give up my magenta dreams and I haven’t. Well, not entirely. The color scheme for the wedding will be more closely narrowed down and then revealed–in the meantime, you can rest assured that I will have bright pink accents (small doses of them) incorporated. But despite neon’s popularity this summer, I can assure it won’t be present on my Big Day next fall.
And no, Allie, Melissa, Tobin, Monique, Nadine and Alani… you will NOT be wearing “hot pink” dresses. But I can’t promise there won’t be a tiny accent somewhere.
